Vintage shopping district since the 80′s, this secret-no-more concentration of garage sales teems with streetcharm and quiet appeal. Unlike haggling central Divisoria, store owners are not eager sellers and let you be as you go through their old personal belongings in search of that something you never thought you wanted. Blue Room on the corner of Apolinario and Lacuña is the first to greet you with its almost posh driftwood seats, red gothic McDonald’s paintings, and yellow-cartoned LPs. From there, old furniture and second-hand fashion rally everywhere for your sweet attention.

Amidst the vintage hoopla, it was this blob of wall that got to me.
As with any other weekend trip, this one ended with too full stomachs after a much-anticipated food binge. Raspberry Tea float for P75; less the ice cream would be P40. Pizza came highly recommended by the owner, Grilled Seafood with Kesong Puti at P205. Four slices good enough to share for merienda.
Fat Michael’s Place is on 115-A Rodriguez Ave., cor. Gen. Lacuña St., Bangkal, Makati City. From South Super Highway, EDSA-bound, turn right on Gen. Lacuña from the service road. Parking is free and plenty along the street.
